Kansas State Wildcats coach Collin Klein is trending toward the best modern-day recruiting class in program history.
Klein’s staff has locked in 26 commitments for 2027, including four four-star recruits and a top junior-college quarterback. The group ranks No. 28 nationally as of July 8, per live data.
Klein hosts recruits at his Manhattan home during official visits, complete with an athletics court for pickleball and other activities. He jokes about neighborhood party noise but insists the setting is meant to celebrate the program’s growing appeal.
“It was very important we had that foundation before the official visit window,” Klein said. “We show them the intentional plan to develop them better than anyone in the country.”
Klein’s first quarterback commitment since returning to Manhattan headlines the haul. The staff also landed what may be the nation’s top JUCO player.
Recruits praise the staff’s relentless communication and willingness to work out in blizzards. Klein’s competitive edge—rooted in his own playing fire—keeps the staff pursuing prospects even after they commit elsewhere.
“Guys who will be good fits hear us say the price to wear that Powercat is high,” Klein said. “The most valuable things in life cost the most.”
Klein’s staff will map development plans for each signee. They’ll measure success in three years by combine invites and draft outcomes.
The Wildcats open the 2026 season against Nicholls Colonels on September 5. Until then, Klein’s staff keeps selling Manhattan as a place where relationships turn into commitments.
